New firework deliveries

This has been a busy week with the first of the major deliveries arriving. Yesterday went particularly well and the forklift was a big help. Often deliveries have to be all handballed so we managed to get yesterdays delivery sorted out very quickly. Cosmic Fireworks have delivered quite a few items now, these items are going to be in short supply as Cosmic will not be taking in any extra stock this side of Bonfire Night, so what stock we have managed to get is it. Hence we thought we would take our order from them as early as they were able to ship it.

We have had pictures come from China of our own range being loaded onto containers. we hope these will arrive shortly but they are being taken in with a long term view so we may not have them for this Bonfire Night. If however they do arrive early we will post them on our web site.

Other UK importers are indicating late deliveries of their fireworks into the UK and certainly two of our suppliers are still waiting for many products to arrive in the UK, they have indicated that these items will not be arriving until October, so a little late but just in time for Bonfire Night.

Many firework manufacturers and importers are reporting late deliveries of their fireworks into the UK this year. many products are currently arriving about a month later than usual and some factories have yet to make their products for the UK market.

We have confirmations on all of the items on our web site and in our brochure and are currently taking in several deliveries each week. Whislt many have gone to print early with their brochures and may therefore have to let customers down we have waited until all our orders have been confirmed so that we feel secure in being able to supply the products in our range.

The first of our orders from China has now arrived and is safely packed away. This year has seen many problems with supply of fireworks from China. Firstly one of the largest UK importers went into administration which initialy led to some confusion as they had gone into administration only 2 years previously but it does mean that they will not be importing any new products this year just selling off what they already have in stock. Also in China itself there have been problems with manufacture. As I write this there is still a ban in place in China regarding the manufacture of fireworks at the temperature is too hot for this to be safely done. Combined with that one of the ships that transfer containers of fireworks from the area of manufacture to Shanghai to the large container ships coming to the UK capsized. 16 containers destined for the UK market were lost and tragicaly the captain of the vessel has not been found.

We have put our new 2011 main season web site on-line. This is primarliy for the live testing of links as to be honest the only way to make usre everthing works is in the end to put it live. As you will see we have some great offers and are able to offer a free delivery service (subject to a few conditions) for the first time.

2011 new products

We have lost various products over the last two years with manufacturers ceasing trading and companies supplying mass market products rather than quality specialist fireworks so after a trial last year with a mew manufacturer we are please to anounce that in 2011 we will be introducing several fantastic items. Some will be brand new designs whilst others will be improvments on loved fireworks from the past. We will have a great little single ignition firework box with 52 shots and lasting about one miniute, it will feature many changes of effects and be very competitively priced. Also available this year will be a 500 shot rapid fire barrage, this will be a development of a product from the past and has ben greatly improved by making the duration about 45 seconds and introducing the shellburst effects much earlier into the display. Other products will include a medium sized single ignition, a large single ignition, some large bore palm effect barrages a a great selection of medium sized cakes.

We are just sending out our details for our 2011 Spring Firework sale. The leaflets have arrived from the printers and labels are being put onto envelopes so we are all very busy at the momment. We are also designing some new fireworks for bonfire night 2011. I think we have got the labels all sorted out now but it is so difficult as emails go back and forth as we try to get the changes we want. The classic story of a UK company trying to get their firework labels printed in China was that when they were asked what they wanted on the label they said 'the same as last year' and that is what the product was called 'The Same as Last Year' hopefully we'll avoid that mistake.

We have some very big surprises with new products for this coming season, we don't want to give away too much at this stage but the products have phenomenal performance and the prices are less than anything else we have seen.

New Multi Effect Single Ignition

We have been in business since 1968 but last night we filmed the best single ignition firework we have ever seen. At £59.99 it is better than other manufacturers products at twice the price. Lasting about two minutes the sky is constantly full of stars. Great sequence of wriggling fish, a salvo of tumbling whistles, a false finale and a great encore of crackling stars. The new Crossette Finale was also tested and filmed and is a great firework for people wanting something different. Commencing with a rapid sequence of zig zagging stars followed by large breaks in a fan shape accross the sky. Hopefully we will have the new videos on-line in the next couple of days as the videos currently on our web site were of pre-production models filmed in China.

New Year's Eve fireworks

Due to the bad weather (heavy snow at our storage site this morning) we are going to start dispatching our fireworks for new year's eve to our customers in the Scottish Highlands on Monday morning. Hopefully there should then be a break in the weather for the delivery vans to get through in the next two weeks. The new single ignition fireworks for new year look fantastic, we will be posting new video footage onto our web site in about a week.

New fireworks for new year celebrations

After months of waiting our new single ignition fireworks for new year celebrations look like they could be soon with us. We have experienced about every obstacle in getting these new fireworks. Firstly the fireworks got put in the wrong container and apparently ended up in the US, then storms meant that the container ship has to stay in port, finaly thick fog at Felixstowe mean the ship could not get into port. We have heard today that all is now ok and that the ship has landed and we are just now waiting to hear that the container has passed customs and is on it's way to us. All being well we will have two exciting new single ignition boxes. Our multi-effect single ignition box will contain everthing you need for new year celebrations and is truly a dipslay in a box, our Crossette Finale will be spectacular but will satisfy the needs of those wanting something a little quieter. Hopefully we shall be posting new videos of these fireworks on you tube as soon we get them tested.

Our 2010 advertising campaign has just started. This was all planned early in the year so it is very frustrating when other mediums try to get us to advertise at the last minute. The buses we advertise on in the midlands are fantastic value for money, how many times have you been stuck behind a bus with just the advert on the back to look at? We are also trying Google adwords properly for the first time. In the past we have been given vouchers from companies to spend on adwords and we have just played at it but we didn't realy know we were doing. So early this year we approached a local company to handle a pay per click campaign for us this September/October. I can see straight away that they are doing lots of things that we knew nothing about but then that's what we are paying them for. Our motorway banners will also be in place during October. Again we use a professional company to handle this for us. Please keep your eyese on the road but we will be advertising by the M40 and M1. Not a cheap medium by any means but when you look at the number of people passing those banners in a day we tend to think it is good value for money. We don't do much press advertising these days, locally there are now so may free papers I wouldn't know which one to choose and they have such a short shelf life.

New fireworks are arriving every day at the momment. We have just moved down the new Panther Rockets from Absolute Fireworks down to our showroom. New stock of the Fury single ignition firework also moved to our showroom, this is a fantastic value for money barrage, outperforming many larger fireworks.

Like magic the 1st of September seems to awaken peoples minds to the fact that Bonfire Night is getting near. The next few weeks are going to be very busy with allocating orders and in goods and out goods are well co-ordinated. Hopefully the weather will stay dry as it makes the job so much more pleasant.

Coming to the end of the holidays. Every week someone is off so it will be good to get back to normal staffing in September. The first of the deliveries for bonfire night are now in stock. We have managed to upload some video clips onto the web site. During September we will try to speed up the loading time of the videos but just at the momment due to holidays and a sudden rush of orders for August/early September parties we have been too busy. We still have a few brochures to post out and should get that done next week.

Our winter 2010 firework brochure has been signed off (hope we don't find any mistakes now!)and should be delivered within the next few days. We then will start the process of sending them out in the post. This often takes quite a few days, stuffing encevopes, putting in order forms etc.

The move around in the office is coming along well. The new long desk should help as two of us can work side by side on either the same or different tasks. The new linked computers should be installed next week so we will have plenty of time to iron out any problems.

The new web site is ready to be uploaded, however as many of the new items have not yet arrived from China we will probably wait a few weeks before posting it up. This will also give us time to insert the new video clips of the new fireworks into the site.

After what seems forever we have made a start on re-fitting our office. New desk, new computers and hopefully more workspace allthough I'm sure we will soon fill it.

We have been working on the new brochure and web site for the last couple of months. The possible change in VAT has put things on hold for a while but now things are going to stay the same for the next 6 months we can sign off brochure designs. We have the new web site layout sorted out and are now just transfering video formats to wmvs (I know we should probably be using something more modern but I like to work with what I know and understand). We will probably wait until the new stock arrives in bulk before posting the new site up. Most stock arrives in the country during August, we hope the floods in China wont affect things too much and it will allow us to get our 4th July sales out of the way. 4th has become quite a busy time for us, after all there are a lot of people from the states living and working in the UK and it is great that they can celebrate this special time for them.

Interesting seeing some of the new items in the flesh for the first time. Brothers demonstartion was very useful. Some products that we thought would be good were only average whilst others were outstanding. Look out for Air Boss in particular which will feature in our single ignitions range. Prices are yet to be finalised as we are waiting to see if the rate of vat goes up in the budget but as always we discount the leading brands and expect to find the leading brands at the lowest prices on our web site.

We are now coming to the end of our annual spering firework sale, as usual there is the last minute rush and were quite busy yesterday dispatching orders for spring firework displays. we are now well into finalizing our 2010 main season range. We have just seen the video footage of some of the new fireworks for 2010. Some very impressive effects and good value for money. We are converting the format so taht we can post the videos on our you tube site and also show sneak previews on our web site. We may not be able to get this done until after the easter break though.

I don't think we have ever had such a response to our firework sale leaflet. All this morning I have been dealing with requests about our Bonfire selection. This really is a great assortment of fireworks and whilst people have asked if we have a video of it we may not have any stock left by the time we get to film a pack (we did not film this pack as it was an assortment and people can take all evening to light them one at a time. The total duration of the contents when fired continuously is about 10 mins. We are currently working on the dvd for our shop monitors and selecting lines for our winter 2010 firework range.

Staff are working hard stuffing envelopes to send our details of our spring firework sale. The updated web site has been tested and all the links seem to work fine. It will take a couple of days to get all the mail shots out to customers but we wanted to get the web site on-line and ready for those ordering as soon as they got the details.

After having signed up for this blog about a year ago we have done nothing with it. However we have now incorperated it into our web site so you can get a more detailed view of how the year progresses for us. Last year you may have been aware that several large firework importers closed down due to the economic climate and several others did not import any new items as they were carrying over large stocks. This made last year's buying somewhat difficult to say the least and caused a few sleepless nights. This year things look better regarding the importation of fireworks and we have seen some importers rise from the dust and others strengthen their ranges. Others too are offering us more exclusive lines so we are looking forward to putting together our winter 2010 range.

Our spring 2010 sale is just about to go live, For 6 weeks only we have some never to be repeated offers. We can store fireworks for you (for free) if you wish to take advantage now of our great offers. However we are constantly surprised of how many use the fireworks for parties at this time of the year.

Latest 2009 range news

We are just finalizing the last few products for our 2009 range. Hopefully we will have the range finished within the next two weeks and can then go to press with our new brochure. So far 2009 has been a very difficult year in the firework industry, the loss of several large importers has left gaps in the products available in the UK this year. It has taken us longer than usual to put our range together but some hard work, long hours and more testing than usual will see a fantastic 2009 range and after lengthy negotiations we have managed to avoid the huge price increases many are experiencing.
